Description

This is an original painting by Brandy on a 5×7″ flat-panel canvas.

Art is an enrichment activity offered to our residents. Some chimps enjoy it, while others prefer not to. The choice is theirs to make.

About the Artist

I was born June 20, 1985, at the Coulston Foundation to my mother, Roxy, and father, Mack. I was taken from my mother after two days and was assigned to a biomedical research study when I was just 20 months old. When I was just three years old, I was used in a research protocol in which I was anesthetized and had my blood drawn weekly for 40 weeks.

In 2002, I was rescued by Save the Chimps. They found me living in a dismal building they dubbed “The Dungeon” with my only friend, CJ. Today, CJ and I are living in a large family group called Freddy’s family, free to roam about a three-acre hilly island complete with a covered bridge! Despite my years of harsh treatment, I am a friendly, outgoing chimp who loves to have my belly tickled.
